BOC three-phase welder brings Beast mode

The "Beast" will be the largest in a revamped Smootharc range

New MIG/MAG welder (with MMA capability) is the first release of BOC’s revamped Smootharc welding range, the company says

BOC has launched the first welder in its revamped Smootharc welding range, saying the model is the company’s most powerful MIG/MAG welder yet.

Head of BOC’s welding business Tony Newnham says the BOC Smootharc Advance II Beast 555R MIG welder is the biggest in the Smootharc range, and will be a true workhorse for buyers.

“It’s versatile, robust and simple to operate – with an inverter-based power source that offers a high duty cycle for optimal results,” he says.

“It’s great value for money for its size, with affordable upgrade options from standard gas-cooled welder, to water-cooled for increased productivity and even longer weld times.”

Housed in a steel cage with large wheels to make it easy to manoeuvre around a site, the welder uses an inverter-based power source with a high duty cycle.

The Smootharc Advance II MIG 555R complies to AS/NZS 60974-1 and IEC/EN 60974-10 and is backed by a three-year conditional warranty. It comes with a full set of accessories, a separate wire feeder and 10m inter-connecting cable.

Ideal for heavy industrial use, it comes standard with a 4m Binzel ABIMIG AT 455 MIG torch, a 3m work return lead and a 3m MMA electrode holder.

Newnham says the Smootharc range is well known as a comprehensive range, good for working from heavy industry through to DIY home jobs.

“We look forward to raising the curtain on new Smootharc products in 2021 – and encourage manufacturers to get in touch with our technical welding specialists for advice on the best products and shielding gases to improve productivity and safety,” he says

The Beast models are available to purchase today from BOC, from local stores or online here at https://www.boc.com.au/shop/en/au/boc-smootharc-advance-ii-555r-mig-welder-advanceii555r-p.
