Durability and operator comfort were the reasons behind a series of upgrades to John Deere’s range of small-frame G-Series skid steers and compact track loaders

Changes to John Deere’s small-frame G Series of skid steers and compact loaders will help the machines last longer and be more comfortable to use.

Among the upgrades to the 312GR, 314G, 316GR, 317G and 318G are new protected auxiliary hydraulic lines that run within the boom, which Deere says will extend the machine’s life cycle.

A new option lets the machine support two sets of counter weights, increasing the machine’s ability to lift heavier materials; while a newly integrated four point tie-down system helps operators move the machine safely.

The small-frame cabs include a new Bluetooth radio option, and the redesigned manual control levers have improved ergonomic grips for increased operator comfort and accessibility.

On top of this, pressurisation in the cabs has been improved and air-conditioning ducts optimised to reduce cleaning time, while colour-coded fluid fills and key filters mounted near the rear door help make maintenance easier.

Easy-to-clean cab windows and an optional rear-view camera will also help improve visibility and safety.

Gregg Zupancic, the skid steers and compact loaders product marketing manager for John Deere’s construction and forestry division, says the changes also help to save time and boost productivity.

“As we constantly source feedback from our customers, we heard them request minor improvements to the small-frame lineup, such as simplified maintenance, increased visibility and easier connections to attachments,” he says.

“We used this as an opportunity to upgrade our equipment so that it meets their needs and continues to provide quality and performance that our customers expect.”
