Genie S-85 XC telescopic boom lifts to new heights

The Genie S-85 XC telescopic boom has 27.91m working height with 22.71m of outreach, with an unrestricted lift capacity of 330kg and an unrestricted capacity of 454kg, allowing three people to work from the boom with additional room for tools and materials.

The XC design on the boom lift also includes a 1.83m dual entry or 2.4m tri-entry platform with side-swing gate to make it easy to get people, tools and job site materials in and out of the basket.

“The XC nomenclature lets customers know that the new Genie S-85 XC model complies with the overload restriction guidelines for Australian AS 1418.10 standards,” Genie national sales manager Kurt Kinder says.

“And thanks to updates in the design and technology of these new booms, these Genie XC models can carry more load — 300 kg (660-lb) unrestricted and 454 kg (1,000-lb) restricted capacity — than their predecessors. Genie XC booms are designed to perform.”

The Genie XC models feature automatic envelope control, which allows the boom to automatically retract as the boom reaches its operating envelope, making platform positioning easier.

The S-85XC is also equipped with load-sensing technology that continuously checks the weight on the platform and limits the machine’s operating envelope accordingly.

The new boom also boasts an expanded working zone thanks to a new chassis tilt sensor which will allow the boom to get into hard-to-reach spots safely.

“This unique chassis tilt-sensing technology gives operators access to different ranges of motion based on the chassis angle,” Kinder says.

“And, it is engineered to automatically cut-out specific lift and drive functions of the machines when the tilt activation setting is reached.

“Equipped with this new technology, the new Genie XC boom will not only carry more load than ever before but will also be able to maximise access hard-to-reach work areas on challenging job sites,” Kinder adds.
