The Makinex powered hand truck is a materials handling tool enabling one person to safely lift and load small equipment or bulky goods weighing up to 140kg. Makinex says it provides a quick and trouble-free alternative to using a forklift.

The hand truck gets its lifting power from a 12V linear actuator and averages around 50 lift cycles with each charge. The unit comes with hook arm attachment as standard and a forklift attachment is also sold separately.

The machine can lift objects on the hook attachment up to a height of 1.9m and with the fork attachment to a height of 1.55m, allowing equipment to be loaded on to the trays of trucks.

We saw the Makinex powered hand truck at this year’s Diesel, Dirt & Turf Expo, and were very impressed.

The inaugural Safe Work Australia Award for Good Design was selected from finalists across all categories in the 2016 Good Design Awards. Makinex were presented with their award as part of the 2016 Good Design Awards ceremony on 27 May 2016.

“These awards are about recognising the important role that design plays in taking innovative ideas and transforming them into commercially successful outcomes,” said Good Design Australia Dr Brandon Gien.

“We want to attract the very best in design and innovation and promote these examples to the world – inspiring others to adopt a design-led approach to the way they operate,” Gien said.

Makinex has been in operation since 2004 and have focused on designing innovative product solutions for the construction, landscaping, equipment hire, and infrastructure industries. Headquartered in Australia, Makinex also has offices in the US and a global network of dealers.
