Toyota says the new forklifts will arrive on the market in August.

According to Toyota, the BT Staxio SAE160 Autopilot Stacker AGV forklifts contain a unique autopilot technology that makes them reliable and accurate for transporting, stacking, and picking products independently or in conjunction with manual equipment.

TMHA national sales and product manager – automation Tony Raggio says the new range, which can be operated manually, “are essentially the same as their existing manual counterparts, with the only difference being the addition of Toyota’s Autopilot technology”.

“This means operators can enjoy all the reliability, safety and durability benefits expected of Toyota forklifts with the added benefits of automation – while servicing and maintenance procedures remain unchanged,” he says.

Raggio says the automated models offer a clear efficiency gain, while also providing increased safety in the warehouse.

“We envisage the AGV forklift range making real productivity improvements in busy warehouse, storage or production environments where repetitive movements are common,” Raggio says.

“Another advantage is that, as a Toyota-backed product we offer full nationwide back-up and support services – the same as for any other forklift or other item of material handling equipment.”

Raggio predicts customers will see a return on investment between the 12- and 36-month marks.
