Hyundai lifts the lid on 30D-9 diesel fork truck

The 30D-9 is part of Hyundai's newly designed 9 series diesel counterbalance trucks.

Hyundai Heavy Industries has announced the release of its new 30D-9 diesel forklift which has been designed with safety and productivity in mind.

The new model is part of Hyundai’s newly-designed 9 series diesel counterbalance trucks.

With a lift capacity of 3 tonnes, Hyundai says the 30D-9 is suited for many different outdoor lifting applications.

The unit is powered by a 50kW/2,300rpm Kubota V3307 engine that is compliant with European Stage IIIB (US Tier 4) engine emission standards.

A diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) converts harmful carbon monoxide from the exhaust into harmless carbon dioxide and water. This eliminates the need for the forklift to have a diesel particulate filter, hence reducing downtime and machine wear.

A range of automated safety features have been added to the 30D-9. A fully-programmable speed-limiter ensures smooth operation of the machine while the hill assist control system provides traction on steep inclines.

The hill-assist function also features an anti-rollback feature that automatically applies the hand brake if the machine begins to roll back. A position indicator on the forklift’s LCD display measures the machine’s pitch and roll and alerts the operator when required.

A load sensor monitors the pressure inside the 30D-9’s lift cylinder and from that calculates the weight on the forks and lets the operator know if there is an overload.

The machine is protected from theft as well as non-qualified operators with a code activation system whereby operators will need to enter a personal activation code before the engine can be started.

Hyundai’s Operator Presence Sensing System (OPSS) is fitted as standard and automatically prevents any mast or drive movements when there is no one in the seat.

Operator comfort has also received a boost in the 30D-9. The spacious cabin has a low entrance height and improved visibility due to the optimised lift cylinder placement , panoramic mirrors, full rear LED lights/reflectors and a reverse camera.

The cabin features a suspended Grammer comfort seat and revised pedal positions for smoother driving. Functions are controlled using the levers positioned within comfortable reach from the driver’s seat.

With the directional switch mounted on the lift lever and the tilt lock switch mounted on the second lever, the driver has full control over mast and drive functions without having to take their hands off the steering wheel.

Maintenance and servicing have been streamlined with a large engine hood providing easy access to the engine bay. The LCD display inside the cabin provides clear readings of all major maintenance points and alerts the operator when and where servicing is needed.

The engine and cooling systems are protected from dust and debris by rear tyre covers and an undercover protective plate.
