BBA Pumps has released a new 12-inch dewatering and sewage pump – the BA300E – that is smaller, lighter and more environmentally friendly than its predecessors.

BBA Pumps' new BA300E 12-inch dewatering and sewage pump.

In terms of size, the BA300E is 20cm narrower, 35cm shorter and 20cm lower than the BA300K, and weighs almost 600km less. This, BBA says, enables the temporary diversion of sewers in cities with minimal disruption.

"When we think of the term ‘small footprint’ we quickly associate it with the concern for a cleaner environment and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions," BBA Pumps says. "In designing the BA300E we have also focused on a small footprint, by reducing the product’s dimensions.

"With a length and width around 3m by 1m, the BA300E is the most compact 12-inch pump unit in its class."

The capacity of the new pump is 1,250 cubic metres per hour and 19 metre of water column (mwc).

It has a semi-open impeller with a free solids passage of no less than 120mm by 105mm, is dry self-priming through the MP100 vacuum pump (100 cubic metres per hour) and generally consumes 10 percent less fuel than the previous model.

Emissions have been reduced through the use of a particulate filter and a catalytic converter (DPF/DOC) with the 3.4-litre common-rail diesel engine.

"We received frequent requests for a more compact 12-inch waste water pump, because of the limited space available in urban areas for sewer bypass jobs," BBA Pumps product manager Henno Schothorst says.

"That’s why we are proud of this entirely new BA300E development. Compared to the previous model it is now much easier to deploy for wastewater projects."

The BA300E is delivered as standard with an LC30 control panel, which allows for functions such as reading several parameters of the electronically controlled engine and increasing or decreasing the pump’s speed at the touch of a button.

The LC30 also offers a choice between an automatic start-stop control through the standard floats, or through an optional pressure sensor.
