Manitou 100 VJR EWP updated for Australia

The Manitou 100 VJR AUS elevated work platform (EWP).

Manitou has re-engineered its 100 VJR AUS elevated work platform (EWP) to give it an indoor and outdoor rating of 200kg or two people, making it the only vertical boom type mast on the market with this feature, the company says.

Designed for work in restricted areas, the 100 VJR AUS is equipped with a jib to give a 3.15m outreach and features an electric drive system that offers smooth movements.

This modification of the 100VJR, which Manitou describes as one of Europe’s most popular vertical masts, was necessary for the platform to comply with the Australian AS1418.10 2011 standard.

“We had previously been selling the European 100VJR that was design registered to AS1418.10: 2006, the previous version of the standard,” Manitou managing director Stuart Walker explains. “But some tests to verify compliance to the new standard meant that we needed to reengineer aspects of the design.”

Other features of the 100VJR AUS are simple controls with proportional movements, iIntegrated tool box storage area, ease of access to the basket and a simple load limiting system in accordance with AS1418.10: 2011.

The 100VJR has a working height of up to 9.9m and compact dimensions of 2.82m in length, 99cm in width and 1.99m in height with the arm lowered. It weighs 2.65 tonnes unladen with the standard fork.

The pendular arm enables rotation of about 70 degrees and the turret can rotate around 355 degrees. It has a turning radius of 1.98m and speeds of 4.5km/h (moving) and 0.65km/h (working).

“We are expecting strong growth in the vertical boom market in the years to come as these products offer greater access and flexibility to users over scissors and some articulating booms,” Walker says. “Originally designed for industrial, commercial maintenance work, the 100VJR will continue to find new uses and users.”
