Aussie Pumps delivers lower-priced diesel-powered cleaner

Pressure cleaning manufacturer Australian Pump Industries has launched the Aussie Hydrotek SC30004D12, a 3,000psi diesel-powered hot water/steam cleaner that can be had for less than $13,000.

The Aussie Hydrotek represents a more cost effective option for professional cleaning contractors, councils or mine operators looking to upgrade to an industrial unit with the benefits of diesel power, according to Aussie Pumps product manager Hamish Lorenz.

“Users can purchase an industrial grade Aussie Hydrotek steam cleaner at a price that is close to that of a petrol machine,” Lorenz says, adding that the price reduction is due to larger, more efficient production runs.

Lorenz says that, while “typically, machines of this type are powered by a single cylinder air-cooled diesel engine, often matched with a high-speed pump”, the Hydrotek SC300004D12 uses an efficient, water-cooled industrial twin-cylinder Kubota engine.

This engine runs under load at below 3,000rpm which gives the Hydrotek extended duty and service life and cuts fuel consumption. Noise output has been reduced as well, with the unit producing less than 85dBa at a distance of seven metres, according to Aussie Pumps.

The SCD00004D12 produces 3,000psi pump pressure and has an output flow rate of 17 litres per minute.

The unit’s diesel-powered hot water burner uses a low 12-volt ignition system that delivers wet steam up to 130C. Aussie Pumps says a 110-volt version will be available in early 2015 that will allow the unit to be turned into a Hydro-Loop ‘Clean & Capture’ system.

The Spiralast burner coils are manufactured using robotic equipment to ensure precision welds on the coil, meaning the coils are stronger and have less internal flow restriction. They come with a lifetime warranty.

The SCD00004D12 can be mounted to a truck or trailer, or can be fitted with an optional wheel kit. A skid-mounted version is also available, specifically designed for mobile cleaning applications. That model includes a 1,000-litre poly tank, a galvanised steel base with fork tines and two hose reels mounted at the rear (one high- and one low-pressure).
