Genie boom lift cable replacement extended to 10 years

Genie has extended its boom extend/retract cable replacement intervals for selected boom lifts from seven to 10 years.

Lifting equipment brand Genie has extended its boom extend/retract cable replacement intervals for selected boom lifts from seven to 10 years.

Genie says replacement of the boom
extend/retract cables is essential to good machine performance and
safe machine operation.

Genie National Service Manager Reg Moss says the extension
offers operators more equipment uptime and a lower cost of
ownership over the potential life of a machine.

“In the spirit of continual improvement, we will analyse
additional products with similar requirements, seeking further
solutions for our customers,” he says.

The replacement interval changes apply to the entire Genie
S-60/S-65 and S-100 through to S-125 model families, including all
current and previously produced versions of the models.

Related service changes are represented in the most current
service manuals by Terex AWP who manufactures the Genie brand of
equipment.

The boom extend/retract cables are responsible for the extension
and retraction of the number three boom tube.

Genie adds that in addition to the mandatory 10 year cable
replacement, regular inspection and adjustment of the cables is
essential to good machine performance and safe operation.

The company says the boom extend/retract function should operate
smoothly and be free of hesitation, jerking and unusual noise.
