The Perth branch of Toyota Material Handling Australia (TMHA) has been named Branch of the Year for calendar year 2013, building on the success it had in 2012 when it won the TMHA President's Award for sales and service excellence.

Perth branch manager Lance Cross accepted the award at the company's annual Gala Awards dinner in Sydney on behalf of all the staff at the Kewdale facility. It was presented by TMHA President and CEO Akihiko Nimura and Executive Vice President and COO Steve Takacs. Toyota Material Handling International was represented by Executive Vice President Lars Sjodahl.

The Perth branch staff received additional recognition as the nation's best rental and service departments 2013, while TMHA Newcastle was the Tier Two Branch of the Year and also won the best sales department prize. Daniel Ford from Brisbane was the 2013 Sales Champion of the Year.

"TMHA Perth was very much an under-performing branch, but the appointment of Lance Cross as branch manager has given focus and direction to the entire branch staff and created a customer-first culture," Takacs says.

"Additionally, TMHA Newcastle under the management of Peter Wilson has delivered consistently high performance. The greater Newcastle region economy has struggled to recover since the GFC, however our Newcastle staff have continued to maintain a customer-first focus."
