Liebherr’s PowerBoom for its range of crawler cranes has received the Design Award at the International Construction Equipment Forum held in the Netherlands last November.

The panel of judges decided to give the award to Liebherr based on its PowerBoom’s ability to significantly increase load capacity of crawler cranes while retaining its economic value and flexibility.

Liebherr says the PowerBoom enables the load capacity of large crawler cranes to be increased by more than 50 per cent at relatively low cost. For this purpose, the lattice sections in the lower section of the lattice boom are aligned parallel to each other, hence significantly increasing the boom strength.

The “Construction Equipment Design Innovation Award” acknowledges innovative concepts and part systems for construction machinery that has been on the global market since January 2012.

The International Construction Economic Forum (ICEF) is an international conference for the global construction industry organised by publishing company KHL Group.

The next ICEF is scheduled for October 30 and 31, 2014 in London, UK.
