Global winners announced at IFOY awards in Germany

Jungheinrich took out two prizes at the 2023 IFOY awards, winning alongside Agilox, Crown, DS Automotion and Still

Jungheinrich won the Special Prize and the prize for intralogistics robots at the IFOY (International Intralogistics and Forklift Truck of the Year) awards, handed out in Germany last month.

The Hamburg-based manufacturer’s AddedView fork camera sits in the forks of a forklift, reading barcodes directly at a storage location and checking them with the WMS (warehouse management system), helping to cut storage and retrieval errors and making receipting much easier.

Jungheinrich’s PowerCube is an automated compact container warehouse designed for the storage and order picking of small parts as well as unit loads – accommodating totes that can be stacked in vertical channels up to 12m high – but are easily adapted to different structures.

Jungheinrich chief sales officer Christian Erlach says the victories underline Jungheinrich’s strength in developing new intralogistics solutions.

“With the Jungheinrich PowerCube and the addedVIEW fork camera,
we offer our customers innovative solutions that increase their competitiveness and significantly improve efficiency in the warehouse,” he says.

Among the other winners were Crown, with its SP1500 Series high- level order picker winning the Warehouse Truck ‘highlifter” award.

Features include all-round visibility with travel speeds of up to 12 km/h, a reach height of up to 11.2 metres and capacities of up to 1.25 tonnes.

Crown uses its OnTrac anti-slip traction control system to cut slippage or wheelspin during acceleration.

The “Lowlifter” category was won by the latest addition to Still’s electric pallet truck range, the EXH 16.

The EXH 16 comes with a load capacity of 1.6 tonnes and an integrated lithium-ion battery which enables front dimensions to be up to 80mm shorter – while providing a much smaller turning radius and width.

Austrian company Agilox won the automated guided vehicle category for intelligent logistics robot the Agilox ODM: Omnidirectional Dolly Mover.

The vehicle is designed to travel autonomously and navigate freely on production floors or in warehouses without the need for a central control system. Its ability to orient to the existing contours with “millimetre precision”, is said to eliminate “time- consuming and costly modifications” to the existing infrastructure.

DS Automotion’s Arcos product was named the winner of the “Intralogistics Software” category, with the product allowing its vehicles to act as automated guided vehicles and autonomous mobile robots through combining with the web-based interface NAVIOS fleet manager.

And Hunic won the “Start-up of the Year” category for its SoftExo Lift exoskeleton – a wearable device designed to provide relief from high and long-lasting stress caused by continuous lifting of heavy objects.
