Gannon, who lives in the remote town of Howatharra and also owns Suncity Motorcycles in Geraldton, has been experiencing trouble with his power supply.

"We live five hours from Perth and unfortunately we lose power on the property from time to time," Gannon says.

"One time I lost power for three days, which was a real blow to my grain farming operation," he says. "The lack of power affected the pumps used across various applications on the farm as well as in our home."

Realising he couldn’t rely solely on the local electricity supplier, Gannon sourced a diesel generator from Redstar Equipment.

"Redstar Equipment factored in all of my requirements and I decided to purchase the Atlas Copco QES 40 diesel generator," Gannon says.

"I could’ve bought a smaller and cheaper generator but I wanted something that would be able to power my whole property," he adds. "I wanted to be able to power the farm and the house without having to go around and turn lights on and off all of the time."

The QES 40 has 42kVa of power and 9.8L/h (100 per cent load) fuel consumption. Other features include a spillage-free frame (110 per cent containment), big doors and service plates for easy accessibility, a fuel filter separator, a four-pole main circuit breaker and a dual-stage fuel filter with water separator.

Redstar says the QES range is rugged, easy to use and straightforward to maintain.

The units are designed to be stationary and portable with a lifting frame structure equipped with forklift slots and lifting beams, and made to withstand up to four times the weight of the unit. They have a compact footprint to simplify truck loading and storage.

The rugged galvanised steel enclosure is sound attenuated, giving the QES 40 a sound power level (LwA) of 92.
