Instant Access placed the order for the EWPs to meet demand for multiple upcoming Sydney tunnelling projects.

“We are proud of our ability to specialise and tailor our product offering to meet the customer’s specific needs,” Instant Access hire division general manager Richard Green says.

“The Manitou 160ATJ+ is ideally suited to these major infrastructure projects and being able to supply a unique product like this to our clients is very exciting.”

The 160ATJ+ is capable of reaching heights of over 14m. What sets it apart from other similar height EWPs is its 400kg lifting capacity, which Manitou says is a 75 percent increase over a standard 14m platform. It allows three people to safely work on the platform simultaneously, increasing efficiency.

The EWP also has an outreach of 8.95m, allowing for flexibility in positioning the machine in cramped or awkward spaces, like those found on tunnelling sites.

The unit is powered by a 34.1kW Kubota diesel engine configured to US Tier 3/EU Stage 3A emissions standards, with a top speed of 6km/h. Four-wheel drive combined with 18-inch off-road tyres and a higher ground clearance give the machine even more flexibility in where it can operate.
