Victorian award-winning forklift rental specialist Chadwick Forklifts has been acquired by an overseas hire company
Japanese rental company Nikken Corporation has announced it has acquired 100 per cent of the shares of Victorian forklift rental specialist Chadwick Forklifts Pty Ltd, making the company a consolidated subsidiary.
Chadwick Forklifts specialise in standard and special project hire to Tier 1 companies, supplying a large fleet of late model forklifts, including LPG, electric, diesel, counterbalanced, rough terrain buggies, telehandlers, reach trucks, walkie stackers, pallet trucks and stock pickers.
It has two locations in Melbourne – Sunshine West and Braeside – but is looking to expand interstate with sites being scoped out in New South Wales and Queensland.
Chadwick Forklifts is a member of the Hire & Rental Industry Association Australia (HRIA) and was crowned HRIA 2021 Hire and Rental Company of the year.
Nikken announced it considers the Chadwick Forklifts acquisition and the subsequent overseas expansion to be a key driver of its long-term growth.
“In Australia, where population growth and infrastructure investment are expected to continue, Chadwick Forklifts has built a strong forklift rental and maintenance business since 2003 and is highly regarded by its customers,” the company says.
“This acquisition marks Nikken’s entry into the Australian market, and by sharing the expertise it has developed in Japan, Nikken aims to further enhance Chadwick Forklifts’ value.”
Nikken says it will apply the same approach it uses in Japan, prioritising safety, respecting local culture and values, and working with communities to support a circular economy through its rental business in Australia.
