Liebherr introduces LRS 545 reachstacker

The new Liebherr LRS 545 reachstacker.

Liebherr Maritime Cranes’ new LRS 545 reachstacker is designed for the fast handling of containers and semi-trailers, combining a compact design and operator comfort with powerful performance between quay and yard.

The wedge-shaped container handler is able to stack five containers in the first and second rows, and four high in the third. Moreover, it is capable of handling 45 tonnes in the first row, 31 tonnes in the second row and 16 tonnes in the third.

The LRS 545 is equipped with a powerful but economical 4-cylinder, 230kW diesel engine. The in-house developed motor is in compliance with the latest EU Stage IV / EPA Tier 4 final emission standards.

Liebherr Maritime Cranes’ Pactronic hybrid drive, which ensures that energy is recuperated, fuel is saved and emissions are reduced, is also available as an option.

“Installed in the new reachstacker, the maintenance-free Pactronic allows for an additional 110kW without fuel consumption or emission,” Liebherr says.

“The drive mechanism of the new machine is characterised by a fully hydrostatic transmission. This allows for stepless speed control with optimised diesel revolutions per minute, which means operators benefit from reduced fuel consumption.”

On board are a 460-litre fuel tank and a 46-litre AdBlu tank.

Further adding to the machine’s economy is individual wheel drive, which reduces the wear and tear on the tyres and gives the steering components a longer service life, the company says.

The Liebherr cabin is spacious at 1500mm x 1500mm x 1600mm, with the middle-seated operator having the option of a steering wheel or a joystick.

The LRS 545 reachstacker weighs in at 69 tonnes for the Toplift model and 74 tonnes for the Intermodal.
