Tadano to launch new rough-terrain crane for overseas markets

Tadano has introduced right-hand drive on its new rough terrain crane, the GR-500EXL to cater to overseas, specifically South East Asian markets.

Lifting equipment specialist Tadano will be releasing a new rough-terrain crane, the GR-500EXL aimed at overseas markets in March 2015.

To address the needs of its customers in South East Asia as well as Australia where vehicles are right-hand drive, Tadano has placed the GR-500EXL driver’s seat on the right for easier operation and greater safety of operators in the countries.

The 51-tonne model will also feature a 42m 5-section boom which Tadano claims is the longest boom available in its class, allowing operators to lift loads to high and remote areas with ease. Extra reach is provided by a 2-staged under slung jib that tows alongside the base boom section and is easy to install even in confined areas.

With the GR-500EXL, Tadano has reduced the length of its carrier and made the counterweights heavier, thus shortening the maximum extension width of outriggers. This allows the crane to be deployed in confined jobsites in urban areas like Singapore.

The carrier features semi-elliptic leaf springs on all wheels for improved driveability, allowing the crane to reach a 48km/h travelling speed. Tadano has also redesigned the elevating cylinder and cabin to offer superior visibility to the operator.

Maintenance for the GR-500EXL is also a breeze according to Tadano, thanks to its conventional Euromot 2 level engine and several other innovations that will reduce the overall cost of maintenance.

Tadano has also equipped the GR-500EXL with a state-of-the-art fuel monitoring system and Eco-mode to reduce fuel consumption.

Further efficiency is achieved with Tadano’s HELLO-NET system which allows customers to monitor crane activity, work history, machine position data and maintenance information via their computers or mobile devices.
